Tallahassee’s Proposed Tiny House Community
The Tiny House Project is slated to be built on 30 acres adjacent the Wolf Creek Subdivision just west of Capital Circle Northwest and Highway 20. The small home’s within the community will be part of a green, sustainable, housing community that will address the city’s need for affordable housing. The first phase of the project will be completed early 2017 and will create two dozen homes with 130 units that range in size from 250 to 400 square feet.

Tallahassee’s latest housing project is still on the table after setbacks. Tallahassee’s Tiny House Project cleared a hurdle last Tuesday when the proposal was unanimously supported by commissioners who voted to uphold the recommendation of an administrative judge.
D.R. Alexander, A Judge with the Florida Division of Administrative Hearings, recommended that an earlier development application coincides with the land code requirements.
Bill Proctor, Leon County Commission Chairman, attests that “The applicant has met the thresholds of law.”
Concern over the Tiny House Development was voiced earlier this year by residents who live close to the proposed development area. Neighbors of the proposed community voiced strong concerns over traffic implications as well as the type of residents that may be attracted to the small, affordable homes.
